Sometimes I feel like saying “I’m a unicorn” instead of
blogger when people ask what I do – as in they get bloggers to a certain degree
but they don’t get your over 35 and blogging.
It’s like every job has to be stereotyped and if you’re not
a yummy mummy or some kind of hipster trendy youth then you can’t possibly blog
……… well actually blogging is democratic and I at 50 have better viewing
figures then some hipster due to the fact I speak to a larger audience …….
The other bit which really makes me feel like a “unicorn” is
the daily flood of emails from companies who are so called social media experts
/ guru’s – their words not mine as this is their signature and they haven’t a
clue.
Golden rule if you want to engage with bloggers – engage with
the blog and get to know the blogger don’t suddenly email with a list of “I
know better than you as I’m a guru” please …..
I have a feeling I’ll be a unicorn for a long time while
retailers and brands feel fearful of the internet and social media and abdicate
all of their social media over to “I know
better guru’s” ……
Lecture over I’m now off to shake my unicorn mane ………… and
spread some sparkle across the blog world ………
